Old Oak Market Candle Company: Candles, Melts & More
The name Old Oak Market came from a story my family shares. Back in 2014 my Parents, my Husband and I all sat down and dreamt up an idea. This dream was to own land together and live together on the property. We got excited about looking and immediately went on the hunt for the perfect little slice of heaven for our family to live on. Pretty early on my Mother ( Cindy) came to me and said that God have given her a vision of our land while she was praying. She said that on the Property there would be this Giant Oak tree. Me (being the Real Estate Agent as well) was like "Mom, How am I to make a search for us that includes " Must have Giant Oak Tree"....(Insert Eye Roll) But we started out on the search. We would go and look, and each time there was a tree missing. We would even find some pieces of land that we all really liked but NO OAK TREE.... My mother just kept saying "we will know it when we see it". Throughout the 3 years we looked for land we found one piece in particular that We all just loved. It was Huge, 44 acres- Over Priced for our budget- and NO OAK TREE....But boy was it beautiful. Of course I'm sure alot of you can relate that when you want something bad enough, you start having selective listening to what you hear from God. Well, we went back and forth for months over this property. Then one night we decided ok let's write up the offer and go for it... So I wrote up the contract and the next morning I woke up to an email from the owner of the property that said that Unfortunately the land(that mind you had been on the market for well over a year) had gone Under Contract the day before. I felt like God had literally Slammed the door on our families dream. Months went by. I had completely stopped looking when my Dad emailed me one morning. He said "Hey, Check out this house-I'd like to look at it today, can you meet me there at lunch? So I was hesitant because I did not want to get excited about ANOTHER property ever again but I agreed, made the appointment and met him there. The house sat on 10 acres, was priced perfect. We walked into the home, looked around, walked outside to the back of the property. We saw it had a stream and a waterfall. As we walk back up to the house my Dad and I stop and look at each other. THERE IT WAS- we looked up the beautiful hill to the house, and sitting right next to it was a GIANT OAK TREE. We could not believe it. Immediately we call My mom and I call my husband. By the evening we had all viewed it, and submitted an offer. Long story short- GOD KNEW- he tried to tell me, many times. I wanted it, in my timing and not his. But he is so so Faithful and Good. This house is a Blessing to our family. We will sit on the back deck and think back on the few years where we searched and searched but God knew exactly where he wanted us. So when I was talking to my mother about this business that I was dreaming up and what the name of this should be, this just seemed fitting.
